Study on water demand in Hanoi’s residential areas
Abstract
In Vietnam, the current water demand standard is often built based on international references, not on specific studies. Therefore, the objective of this research was to investigate the real water use in such as big city as Hanoi, especially in residential areas to serve as one of bases for setting up water demand standard for Vietnam urban areas. The preliminary results from 3-month survey in 9 urban districts in Hanoi showed that the average water demand is about 133 L/cap/day, which is 20% lower than the current national water demand standard.
