Research and development of concrete using recycled concrete aggregate have been being done in Vietnam recently. It is generally known that the use of recycled aggregates in concrete reduces the compressive strength and render the concrete less durable. Various methods have been attempted to improve the quality of the recycled aggregates concrete. This paper presents the effect of incorporating ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) to some properties of concrete used recycled concrete aggregates. The results show that one of the practical ways to utilize a high percentage of recycled aggregate in concrete is by incorporating 25% of GGBFS since some drawbacks, i.e. compressive strength and capillary water absorption, chloride penetrability, caused by using recycled aggregates in concrete could be minimized.
