BIM for infrastructure projects in Vietnam: Status quo, obstacles for the application and solutions

Abstract

The Building Information Modelling (BIM) for infrastructure projects has its own characteristics, and it is distinct from that applied to buildings and industrial construction projects. This article focuses on the introduction and analysis of BIM applications for infrastructure, or Infra-BIM in Finland. Then, a depth discussion regarding the application of BIM for infrastructure in Vietnam will be presented through an analysis of the legal environment for the application of BIM in Vietnam, an overview of the application of BIM for infrastructure projects in Vietnam and proposals for boosting the BIM use in Vietnam.
