BIM coordination of high-rise building projects: Investigating large AEC companies in Southern Vietnam
Abstract
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a digital environment that allows key stakeholders of construction projects to share and update information through project lifecycle via 3D models with metadata attached. It is expected that BIM possibly changes the conventional project process, substitute 3D for 2D design technology, and alter mindset of Architecture Engineering Construction (AEC) professionals towards collaborative project delivery method. However, the results of BIM implementation, particularly in high-rise building projects, has been limited. This research, therefore, aims to compare BIM coordination methods for real projects in southern Vietnam; and simultaneously analyzing the factors affecting the success of BIM practice under the lens of “Activity Theory”.
